5/01/2024 - 17:34
Hugo will represent Ochsenhausen in the German Cup Final Four this Sunday, starting at 7am Brasília time. The team will be up against Saarbrücken and the winner will face the winner of the Borussia Düsseldorf – Grünwettersbach match on the same day. The match will be staged at the Ratiopharm Arena in Neu-Ulm, where 5,000 tickets have already been sold.
Hugo will be joined by a host of world class players including Timo Boll and Dang Qiu from Borussia Düsseldorf, Patrick Franziska and Darko Jorgic from Saarbrücken and Wang Xi and Tiago Apolonia from Grünwettersbach. The two semi-finals will be played simultaneously from 7am, with the final following shortly after.
Ochsenhausen have won the German Cup four times, most recently in 2019. Their big boost this season has been the return of Hugo, who left the team in 2021 to play for clubs in Russia and Japan. Saarbrücken, for their part, have tradition. They have reached the last four of the German Cup in seven of the last ten editions and last won the title in 2022.
In the other semi-final, Borussia Düsseldorf are the all-time winners of the German Table Tennis Cup. They have won the title 27 times but have been beaten in the last two finals: last year by TTC Neu-Ulm and in 2022 by Saarbrücken.
