This week, Hugo will face his last international tour event in 2024: the WTT Finals Fukuoka, in Japan, from November 20 to 24. The competition features the top 16 players of this season to wrap up the WTT calendar.

As the only Brazilian player in Fukuoka, Hugo is the 5th highest-ranked player in the WTT Finals – check out the full list of participants here. His best result in the competition came in the 2021 edition, when he reached the semi-finals.

Hugo almost missed out the WTT Finals. The week before the event, he came down with a viral illness that kept him away from training and forced him to miss a Bundesliga match with Liebherr Ochsenhausen. Until the day before the trip, he didn’t know if he would be able to make it to Japan.

Hugo has had a solid season at the WTT events in 2024. This year, he won two titles (WTT Star Contender Ljubljana and WTT Contender Rio de Janeiro) and reached two other finals (WTT Champions Incheon and WTT Star Contender Goa).
